GSA Chief Resigns Amid Conference Costs Controversy

President Obama, I think, must be sadly shaking his head in the Oval Office. The chief of the General Servies Administration resigned on Monday when it leaked documents revealed a conference in Nevada in 2010 cost taxpayers $820,000 (that's not a typo). A 4-day conference, with a "mind-reader, a clown, sushi, and lots of drinking" cost almost $1 million. The agency, which oversees administrative and management duties for the government, also fired six other employees for their gross negligence.

Obama, who spent much of 2010 apologizing for the stimulus and government spending, despite the fact that the stimulus was a huge success (as well as the auto-bailout), would clearly be upset over this. According to a spokesperson, Obama "was outraged by the excessive spending, questionable dealings with contractors, and disregard for taxpayer dollars."

Obama might need to hire that clown to cheer him up after this mess.
